We, too, were there yesterday evening. We have attended “Devotion for Republic” march like other thousands of Republicans. We have joined our hands. We became one body. We did flood over Bağdat Caddesi.
Bağdat Caddesi was full of love, tolerance and respect yesterday. Republic was there, so was Atatürk everywhere.
All the faces were sparkling. They were reflecting their hopes for the future on their faces. Their children, guarantee of their parents, were in their hands who would protect their future and follow Atatürk. The children were there in order to learn and protect Republic.
People were walking with flags and banners in their hands. They were not walking only from Suadiye to Göztepe, but also from darkness to enlightenment. Didn’t Atatürk say “Fellows, friends ,gentlemen, please note that Republic of Turkey shall not be the land of sheikhes, dervishes, disciples and lunatics. The most righteous, most trustworthy and real religious sect is civilisation sect.”?
Way of civilisation was so long and ardous. Everybody was aware of that fact. However, Ata said “You, young children of Turkey! You will cerainly follow me even if you are exhausted. The ones who are determined to walk on without having rest shall never get tired. Turkish Youth shall walk towards to our aim and our highest ideal without getting tired.” That is why children should be on the way to civilization too. That is why they should walk all together.
We, I and my daughter Aylin, were at Bağdat Caddesi like others. Aylin, like other children, has also seen the people who were walking from darkness to enlightenment. She felt Republic in her bones and veins. She carried and wave her flag.
And just like other children, she wantd to come again.
